The Story of Hunter knife
Brusletto Hunter – Norwegian quality and tradition since 1960
Launched in 1963, and still today Brusletto's bestseller, the Hunter knife, is the true all-round knife that has proven its quality through generations. Inspired by the hunting culture in the USA and developed specifically for Norwegian conditions, the Hunter is the perfect companion in the wild. With its solid and precise design, it handles everything from butchering and skinning to filleting fish and sharing food around the campfire. This knife is always ready to do the job efficiently and easily.
.
The first editions were delivered with a bloodline, but to increase durability this was quickly removed, which has made the knife even stronger in use. The knife was originally made with a classic rosewood handle but is now produced in beautiful Masur Birch – a natural, durable material that gives each knife its unique expression and makes the Hunter a timeless companion that lasts.
Hunter Premium – because every detail matters
In 2009, we took the legacy of the original Hunter knife one step further and launched Hunter Premium – a more exclusive edition, created for those who truly value craftsmanship and uniqueness. Here, the process begins with carefully hand-picking handles with eye-catching structure and character. Each piece then receives special treatment that highlights the natural grain of the wood – ensuring that every knife has its own unique character. The knife blade is sandblasted in an elegant gray tone, and the holster has a matte finish. This gives a rougher, yet sophisticated expression – perfect for the discerning user or outdoor enthusiast who wants something completely unique. Hunter Premium is more than a knife. It’s a piece of Norwegian craftsmanship — shaped with precision, passion, and an eye for detail.
Hunter Premium Chef – a kitchen tool with roots in the wilderness
In 2018, we brought the legacy of our best-selling Hunter Masur knife to the kitchen, seamlessly combining function and design. The result was Hunter Premium Chef – a series of kitchen knives that carry the same unique design, materials and craftsmanship that have made the hunting knife legendary for over 60 years.
The first two models launched were:
• Vegetable knife 13 cm
• Chef knife 19 cm
Production started as a test and a limited edition, but the response was overwhelming, leading to full-scale production.
Lighter. Sharper. Unique.
The blade of the Hunter Premium Chef is extra thin and features the same tang and locking mechanism as our hunting knife. This provides perfect balance and makes the knife noticeably lighter than many other kitchen knives, without compromising strength or precision.
The thin blade also offers great advantages when cooking:
• Vegetables such as carrots do not burst
• You can easily cut ultra-thin slices of onions, tomatoes and other ingredients
An elegant addition to your kitchen
The masur birch handle is the same as on our exclusive Hunter Premium. Each handle is unique, with its own natural play of color and pattern — turning every knife into a handcrafted work of art, perfect for display on a magnetic strip in your kitchen.
Hunter Premium Chef – Norwegian craftsmanship in the kitchen
After the successful launch of the first kitchen knives in 2018, the collection grew with the addition of the Hunter Premium Chef. The market made it clear that there was a demand for exclusive knives that were both lighter and sharper, with solid roots in true Norwegian craftsmanship.
